Cloud Leverage Global DNS accomplishes failover without updating DNS records. Many DNS failover solutions place the burden on the end-user by changing 'A' record IP addresses during an outage. This method only works some of the time. Even when using low time-to-live (TTL) values, browsers continue to cache IP addresses long after they should, thus directing users to servers that are no longer available. When users are directed to malfunctioning servers or to a non-existent website, customer loyalty and brand reputation suffer.

Cloud Leverage Global DNS Failover uses our Global Load Balancing platform and a perpetually available Virtual Server IP (VSIP) to route traffic into our global IP Anycast network, and through to the real server. By using this approach, the IP address for the public-facing web application never changes, and users aren't required to obtain a new IP address from the authoritative DNS server. In the event of a server failure, they are automatically redirected without so much as a millisecond of downtime.
